John Dipollina / PGA Director of Golf
John came to Lyman Orchards from The Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford, CT. John served as 1st Assistant Golf Professional. John was able to learn what it takes to excel as an instructor, merchandiser, club fitter, tournament coordinator, as well as provide a high level of customer service.
What got John into Golf: “My Dad brought home a rickety set of clubs and old used golf balls one day and hung them in the garage because he knew I loved mini-golf and thought maybe I’d enjoy real golf. Shortly there after I cut 9 holes in the back yard with a potting shovel and made my own course around our yard.”
Biggest Career Influences: “I’ve been lucky to work under some tremendously talented professionals both in and out of golf. Working for four years at The University of Connecticut’s Women’s Basketball Office, Geno Auriemma and his staff taught me what it takes to be a winner and how much organization it takes to be your very best on a regular basis.
I benefitted by working for 2013 LPGA Professional of the Year Kammy Maxfeldt of Birchwood CC in Westport, CT who taught me how to be “professional” in every sense of the word. I studied golf instruction under two-time CT PGA Teacher of the Year George Connor and saw him build a thriving business of teaching the game of golf. I had the privilege of working alongside a local legend and CT PGA Hall of Fame Member in Jack McConachie of Pine Valley GC who quite simply loves the game of golf more than anyone I have or will ever know.
Most recently and most importantly I had the good fortune of being part of The Hartford Golf Club professional staff led by PGA Head Golf Professional Joe Connerton. Joe gets the best out of you every day with his excitement for the golf business and the attention to detail he brings to everything he touches. The members of HGC are very lucky to have him. You can’t help but want to run through a wall for him and do the best job possible.”
