February 5, 2026

Lyman Orchards Golf Center is proud to celebrate two members of Team Lyman whose dedication to instruction, player development, and leadership within the golf industry has earned them major recognition from the Connecticut Section PGA. Alex Cavaliere and Bryan Mooney were both honored in 2025 for their professional achievements and continued impact on the game.

Alex Cavaliere Named 2025 Coach/Teacher of the Year

Alex Cavaliere, who joined Lyman Orchards Golf in 2022, was named the 2025 Connecticut Section PGA Teacher of the Year, one of the organization's highest honors recognizing excellence in golf instruction and player development.

Alex is a graduate of Penn State University's Professional Golf Management program, where he studied the biomechanics of the golf swing while also earning additional minors and certificates in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, Business, and Event Management.

His work in player development has earned recognition at both the regional and national levels. Alex was named a Top 100 Growth of the Game Teaching Professional by the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) in 2025 and has been recognized as an Operation 36 Top 50 Coach from 2023 through 2025. In 2024, he also received the Connecticut PGA Youth Player Development Award.

Alex holds numerous coaching certifications, including designation as a PGA Teaching & Coaching Specialized Professional, Operation 36 Certified Professional, U.S. Kids Certified Coach, Mach 3 Authorized Instructor, and EyeLine Elite Putting Instructor. He also holds certifications from the Titleist Performance Institute, SuperSeed Golf, Swing Catalyst, and the American Development Model, along with a National Coach Certification from the Human Kinetics Coach Education Center. Alex is also one of the only two Golf Digest Certified Instructors in Connecticut.

Beyond instruction, Alex has played a significant leadership role in junior golf. Since 2023, he has served as the Head Coach of Lyman Orchards' PGA Jr. League 17U All-Star Team. Under his leadership, the team won Connecticut Section Championships in 2022, 2023, and 2025, advanced to the PGA District 1 regional finals in 2024 and 2025, and qualified for the 2025 PGA Jr. League National Championship in New Mexico, finishing eighth overall.

Alex also assists with Lyman's 13U All-Star teams, which finished second in both the 2023 and 2024 state and regional championships.

In addition to his coaching roles, Alex continues to serve the golf industry through leadership and service. He has been a member of the PGA LEAD Program Cohort IX, a national leadership development initiative, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Section PGA, while also chairing the organization's Junior Golf Committee.

Bryan Mooney Earns 2025 Connecticut PGA Professional Development Award

Bryan Mooney, who joined Lyman Orchards Golf Club in 2024, was honored the 2025 Connecticut Section PGA Professional Development Award, recognizing his commitment to continuing education and growth within the golf profession.
