Spanning from 5,812 to 7,011 yards, the Jones Course tests golfers with risk/reward opportunities on many holes. The front nine showcases long, sweeping par 5s and demanding par 3s, while the back nine introduces tighter fairways, subtle elevation shifts, and green complexes that punish misjudged approaches. Holes like the par-5 18th finish the round with a classic risk-reward decision that’s signature Jones. With a slope of 134 from the tips and a layout that flows harmoniously with the natural terrain, the Jones Course is as beautiful as it is bold.

Course architect: Robert Trent Jones, sr.

Robert Trent Jones, Sr., designed (or redesigned) about 500 golf courses in at least 40 US states and 35 other countries around the world. It has been jokingly said that, "The sun never sets on a Robert Trent Jones golf course."

Jones’ courses are noted for their artistic landscaping, innovative use of bunkers and liberal use of water hazards that encourage a high level of strategy. He believed that golf should be a risk/reward sport, and his designs encourage daring play. Holes are meant to be a "hard par but easy bogey." His signature became the most recognizable of any golf course architect around the globe.

Jack Lyman, then President of Lyman Orchards, hired Jones in the mid 1960s to help transform the business. He envisioned Lyman Orchards as central Connecticut's premier recreational and family destination anchored by an 18-hole championship golf course. In 1969 the golf course opened to rave reviews and continues to be one of the best courses in Connecticut.
